The ships of Azamara Club Cruises — both of them — have completed being reimagined…or refurbished if you like. The Quest is now out of dry dock in Singapore after a full upgrading, following her sister the Journey, which received the same treatment in January.

The twin ships feature new staterooms and suites, including the addition of luxurious Spa Suites.  All venues, public spaces and technologies have been renewed. A cruise line that’s best known for its “destination immersion” programs, Azamara continues to enhance the experience both on land and at sea.

The U.S. women’s soccer team has had great success on the pitch over the last few years and Avalon Waterways is hoping some of it will rub off on its newest ship, the Avalon Passion.

Jill Ellis, the national team’s head coach, was chosen as the new ship’s godmother. Along with Captain Peter Werner and Avalon’s Managing Director Patrick Clark, Ms Ellis smashed a bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne against the hull on a beautiful warm day in Linz, Austria.

The christening of the Passion came just one week after Avalon christened another new Suite Ship – the Imagery II – in the scenic town of Engers, Germany.  There, New Zealand broadcaster Judy Bailey gave her godmother’s blessing in Maori.

A few weeks ago, Royal Caribbean officially took possession of the keys to its 24th ship, Ovation of the Seas, in a ceremony in Bremerhaven, Germany. Chairman and CEO Richard D. Fain received the new ship from Meyer Werft yard’s Managing Partner, Bernard Meyer.

This is the third of the highly successful Quantum Class ships and the second of the three that will be sailing in China. One — Anthem of the Seas — is based in New York and, in what is now the largest fleet of any cruise line sailing in China, Ovation of the Seas joins Quantum of the SeasMariner of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas and Legend of the Seas.

All for now.
